FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DOES CONSCIOUSLY CULTIVATED MEAN?
For us, consciously cultivated means that the needs and desires of the animals living on our farm are honored. The chickens are raised on pasture where they can scratch, socialize, and hunt for insects everyday. Our pigs are raised in the woods and on pasture, which gives them the opportunity to wallow and root at will.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY SOY-FREE AND NON-GMO?
There are a lot of confusing labels on food, meat and poultry in particular! Many of us are concerned about GM ingredients in our food supply, while some people have severe food allergies to soy products. Our animals are fed locally milled (in North Carolina) grain mixes that are free of soybean and GMO ingredients. To replace the protein from the soybean, peas and fish meal are substituted.
HOW CAN I BUY YOUR PORK?
At this time, we are taking reservations for whole or half pig orders. The pigs will be ready for processing in December 2020. Whole pigs yield approximately 120-140 pounds of meat. Half pigs yield approximately 60-70 pounds of meat. Plan to allot 1 cubic feet of freezer space per 15 pounds of pork. Contact us via email, text, or phone to get all the details.
HOW CAN I BUY YOUR CHICKEN?
Our chickens are available whole and frozen beginning in mid-August. Contact us via email, text, or phone to put your name on the reservation list. Chickens can be picked up at the farm or at a meeting place in Greensboro.
